Emergencies

The first few days after getting braces can be uncomfortable. They may be too tight or too loose. The end of the wire can irritate your mucous membranes, or a bracket may even fall off.

Give us a call if you feel like something is not right (032 384 15 00).

or outside the opening hours via e-mail: info@kieferortho-lyssbachpark.ch

If a problem arises, you can try to find a temporary solution to hold you over until your next visit.

  • A loose bracket is not an emergency: it will be fine if it is reattached at some point in the next few days.
  • The same applies to a loose band. Try to carefully shift it back over the tooth.
  • If the end of the archwire is irritating your mucous membranes, you can cover it with the protective wax that was provided.
  • If you have a fine archwire, you can shorten the ends using nail clippers.
  • If the end of the wire has slipped out of the bracket, you can carefully reinsert it using tweezers.
  • If you have removable braces that no longer fit or are too tight, you can go without wearing them for a short period of time.

After finding a temporary solution, it is essential to schedule an appointment with us to professionally repair whatever has gone wrong. Always bring your braces (or parts of your braces) to your appointment.
